I completed the program, and it was exactly what I was looking for to reach my goal of more bicep, triceps, and shoulders muscles, and also to prepare for Les Mills PUMP!
The schedule is pretty intense 90 days of 3-4 P90X workouts/week plus 2 Insanity workouts/week! It is super demanding and really forces you to keep in top shape just to make it the next section!
This is a great hybrid to try because the difference in training styles between Tony Horton and Shaun T keeps it really interesting. The styles of the programs are so different, as is the music. My body was really craving all the stretching workouts that are incorporated into the hybrid calendar. Really love Yoga X and Stretch X workouts. They are just like a yoga class complete with the wood floor, music, and great instruction including many adjustments. Also the neck rolls and other stretches at the beginning of all the resistance workouts in P90X do wonders. On the other hand, the stretches in Insanity are a little different, they are also yoga inspired, but not as much time is devoted to stretching as in P90X.
One tip for everyone doing P90X workouts to make it easier is to mirror Tony, so when he says left arm, right leg, use your right arm, and left leg.
During my hybrid program, P90X iPhone app was released, so I got to play around and really enjoy using the app for the guided workouts. It is a nice change because you can play your own music, and seeing just Tony workout with the pure white background I found to help with seeing more adjustments, plus he gives different tips which can really help with your form. For example, I could really see how he performs the plyo pushup much more clearly than in the DVD version.
Here are my after photos, definitely have gotten results in the chest, biceps, triceps and shoulders. Have more work to do, very happy! Great way to start 2012!
